For someone who have been bedeviled by an abusive relationship of any kind. The reason those thoughts keep coming is to cause you to take actionable steps; make a gut call, put your foot down and demand for an answer. Do not fail to report any action that threatens your life or that of your children.

Talk to the person involved about how you feel- be honest.

2. Thoughts keep coming because your mind wants a promise that you will never allow the situation to reoccur, either to you, someone you care about or everyone who cares to listen to you: this in itself will set you up for a purposeful and fulfilling life.
