2023: Atiku’s victory will end Tinubu’s reign in Lagos – Jandor

Date:

Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Dr Abdul-Azeez Adediran popularly known as Jandor, has said victory of the party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in 2023 would bring an end to the political reign of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in the state.

Adediran stated this in Epe, Lagos, during the continuation of a tour of 245 wards in the state to seek the support of Lagosians for his election.

He spoke just as the party’s deputy governorship candidate in the state, Ms. Funke Akindele, promised that the party would provide employment for the youths to eradicate hooliganism.

Jandor said that an end to Tinubu’s political dominance would help his government to use the state’s revenue to develop the state if elected in 2023.

Daily Trust reports that Tinubu has been in firm control of the State’s political apparatus since 1999.

He has successfully produced successive governors after he left office in 2007 even as the ruling party in the state has vowed to deliver more votes for Tinubu in the forthcoming presidential election.

APC through its spokesman, Seye Oladejo had recently told our correspondent that Lagos state remains an “impenetrable fortress for PDP,” saying the opposition should not be taken seriously again.

But Jandor said he is ready to end Tinubu’s hegemony in the state and said this would be realised with Atiku’s victory in the election.

He also vowed to use his ambition to avenge the alleged maltreatment of former governor Akinwunmi Ambode of the state by the APC power brokers.

Ambode, an indigene of Epe, lost his second term bid after falling out with Tinubu and other APC leaders. He has stayed away from party activities since 2019 and it is not clear whether he would support his one-time benefactor’s presidential bid.

Jandor however restated that the time is ripe for the people to liberate themselves from their “oppressors.”

The Governorship Candidate who addressed some traditionalists under the umbrella of Isese Lagba Association in Ward 5 in Epe Local  Government and some of his supporters in Ward C1 stated that he has respect for all religions in the state, adding that he has made it as a policy to earmark August 20 as Isese Day celebration if elected as governor in 2023.

Jandor said that it was time for both Badagry, Epe and Ikorodu Divisions to produce the governor and deputy governor, saying that the divisions had been sidelined for so long in the scheme of things in the state.

While addressing residents of Mayunre area, Jandor said that it was a surprise that despite the huge revenue the state was generating, there could be areas suffering  from bad road networks, lack of primary health centres and necessary social amenities.

He promised to rehabilitate the Eleran-Igbe Road leading to 25 communities in Ibeju-Lekki area of Epe if elected, adding that he would also hand over the lands fraudulently acquired by people in the present government to the aborigines.

“Those in government presently have used their influence and power to take over our lands from us. Don’t worry, Jandor has come to rescue you from them.

“I will take back the lands from them and return them to you the real owners. Those ruling us have turned us to slaves, it is time to liberate ourselves by voting against them on February 25 and March 10, 2023.

The Chairman of Isese Lagba Association, Araba Ifagbemi Dauda had earlier urged the PDP governorship candidate to build a secretariat for the traditionalists in Epe, saying that they want to enjoy all the privileges enjoyed by those who practise other religions.

Dauda lamented that the children in the area don’t have access to quality education due to high cost of school fees and lack of enough qualified teachers, and urged Jandor to address all the challenges facing the education sector.
