World Endurance Championship 2023: How to watch, calendar and more as Ferrari and Porsche join the series

Date:

The 2023 World Endurance Championship will be the biggest in recent seasons as Ferrari and Porsche join the Hypercar class, with several of motorsport’s biggest stars also competing this year.

The centenary of the Le Mans 24 Hours and the technical regulations in the WEC’s top class has persuaded manufacturers to join, which has led to 13 entries in the Hypercar class.

Toyota, Porsche, Ferrari, Cadillac and Peugeot will be among those fighting for the overall championship.

LMP2 and GTE Am return for 2023, after the GTE Pro class was dropped last year.

The best WEC season for years?

With Formula 1 and Formula E growing substantially over the last five years, the World Endurance Championship could be about to have a boom of its own.

The early 2014 to 2016 era where Audi, Porsche and Toyota went head-to-head in LMP1 is still seen as one of the best sportscar eras ever and it’s hoped the same can happen in the Hypercar class.

BMW and Lamborghini will also join the series in 2024 so there will be at least seven manufactures in the top class next year.
