New training course on professional conduct and ethics in immigration advice

Date:

We’ve published a new practical skills course for Free Movement members on professional conduct and ethics in immigration advice. The topic is particularly important for immigration lawyers, who often represent vulnerable clients and are expected to conform to a high level of professional standards.

We take a look at the different codes of conduct for the professional bodies regulating legal practice in the UK, including the General Council of the Bar, the Law Society of England and Wales, the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, the Faculty of Advocates, the Law Society of Scotland, the General Council of the Bar of Northern Ireland, and the Law Society of Northern Ireland. As our course author says, each code contains different wording but similar themes. The course is replete with examples to help demonstrate the ethical problems an advisor might encounter in the provision of immigration advice, and how to deal with them.

The course is only available to paying members of Free Movement. If you are not already a member, you can join here and access not just this course but all of our courses. Membership starts from £24 per month and you can cancel at any time.
