The Croatian National Tourist Board has declared that over 483 flight routes will link Croatia during the upcoming summer.
In this regard, the Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board, Kristjan Staničić, emphasised the crucial role of air transport in bridging Croatia with the globe, particularly the far south of the country with incoming markets, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.
He anticipates further revitalisation of air travel given the improved traffic connections to various Croatian destinations this year.
“A large number of airlines confirms the popularity of Croatia on the tourist map of the world and is a continuation of Croatia’s positioning as an air destination well connected to foreign airports”, Staničić also noted.
The Croatian National Tourism Board has also revealed that the summer season of 2023 will see direct flights to 130 cities, an increase from the previous year’s summer flight schedule. The majority of these direct routes will link Croatia with countries such as Germany, Great Britain, France, the Netherlands, and Italy.
Split Airport will be operating 32 per cent of these flights, followed by Zagreb Airport at 30 per cent, and Dubrovnik Airport at 22 per cent. In total, this summer, there are plans for direct flights between Croatia and 38 countries, mostly within Europe.
Moreover, routes to non-European destinations are also planned, including the United States, Canada, Israel, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.
As for airlines, 57 different carriers are slated to operate flights to Croatia, marking an increase from around 50 airlines during the same period in 2022. The summer flight schedule indicates that most flights will be handled by Croatia Airlines, Ryanair, Easyjet, Eurowings, and Lufthansa.
Additionally, some new entrants to the Croatian market this year include Aeroitalia, Air Connect, Braathens Airlines, Enter Air, Jettime, Peoples Viennaline, among others.
Recently, Spain has also announced that it will launch direct flights this summer to the Portuguese Azores archipelago for its citizens. Thus, Portuguese airline SATA Air Azores, Spain’s flag carrier Iberia, and Binter, the flagship carrier of the Canary Islands, will facilitate direct flights.
Similarly, Brussels Airport has started the 2023 summer season with a total of 175 direct destinations that will be offered by 58 different airlines.
As a result, the airport has added to its summer flight schedule nine new destinations such as Toronto (Canada), Billund (Denmark), Seville (Spain), Kayseri (Turkey), Monastir (Tunisia) and Béjaïa, Constantine, Oran and Tlemcen (Algeria).
