A special connection. Rebel Wilson and Ramona Agruma kept their romance low-key for months before offering a glimpse at their bond.

In May 2022, Wilson hinted that she was seeing someone new while discussing her attempts to get back into the dating scene. “I deliberately wanted to push myself to date a bunch of people and gain that experience, which I know is not normal, but it really helped me find out what I liked and what I didn’t like,” she shared on the “U Up?” podcast following her split from Jacob Busch.

One month later, the actress took her relationship with Agruma public on social media. “I thought I was searching for a Disney Prince … but maybe what I really needed all this time was a Disney Princess 💗🌈💗#loveislove,” Wilson wrote alongside an Instagram selfie of the happy couple in June 2022.

Amid the exciting news, Australia’s Sydney Morning Herald made headlines for an op-ed where they recounted giving the comedian a deadline to comment on her dating life. “It was with an abundance of caution and respect that this media outlet emailed Rebel Wilson’s representatives on Thursday morning, giving her two days to comment on her new relationship with LA leisure wear designer Ramona Agruma, before publishing a single word,” the article stated. “Big mistake. Wilson opted to gazump the story, posting about her new ‘Disney Princess’ on Instagram.”

At the time, the publication received widespread backlash for pushing the Australia native to address her private life. Wilson, for her part, broke her silence about the incident on Twitter. “Thanks for your comments, it was a very hard situation but trying to handle it with grace 💗,” she wrote that same month.

In response, the outlet’s journalist Andrew Hornery issued an apology, and the original article was removed from their website.

“It is not the Herald’s business to ‘out’ people and that is not what we set out to do. But I understand why my email has been seen as a threat. The framing of it was a mistake,” the writer wrote, noting they “mishandled steps” in their approach. “The Herald and I will approach things differently from now on to make sure we always take into consideration the extra layer of complexities people face when it comes to their sexuality.”

After making her debut with Agruma, Wilson continued to share adorable moments from the couple’s time together. “Ciao bellas,” the Isn’t It Romantic actress captioned an Instagram photo of her strolling through Italy while holding her girlfriend’s hand in June 2022.

The pair are “having a blast with friends on their European vacation,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly in July 2022, noting, “Rebel [Wilson] is very happy all around — in her new relationship, with her body and her career.”

Wilson and the owner of clothing brand Lemon Ve Limon “are enjoying getting to know each other and spending this time together,” the insider added. “Rebel loves how down-to-earth Ramona is and that they have a lot in common. They’re taking things slow but are excited to see what the future holds.”

Wilson and Agruma were spotted enjoying the NFC Championship Game between the Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49ers.

The Senior Year actress and Agruma made an appearance together at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party. 

“Millions of reasons to celebrate this weekend!” Wilson captioned an Instagram snap of her and Agruma at a dinner with friends.

During an episode of the “U Up?” podcast, the Bridesmaids star opened up about forming a connection with her significant other. “I met [my partner] at a friend’s set-up,” she said. “He had known both of us for at least five years and he thought we would hit it off – and then we did! I can trust that they are who they say they are, which is something that you don’t really know on the [dating] apps.”

“We spoke on the phone for weeks before meeting. And that was a really good way to get to know each other,” Wilson told People about her new romance. “It was a bit old-school in that sense — very romantic.”

The SAG Award nominee also gushed about being in a “really healthy” relationship. “I think going through the process of finding more self-worth, I think that what you want in a partner is elevated and so it’s great to have someone who feels like an equal partner and be in a healthy relationship,” she continued. “There were times — I’m not saying with all my exes, they’re great — but there were some times that I was probably putting up with that I shouldn’t have.”

Wilson also noted that her several of her fellow Pitch Perfect Bellas, including Anna Kendrick and Chrissie Fit, were also fans of the line.

Wilson and Agruma are “enjoying getting to know each other and spending this time together,” the source added, noting, “They’re taking things slowly but are excited to see what the future holds.”

Wilson wore a pink dress to attend the 2022 Wimbledon Championships alongside her sister, Liberty Wilson. “Pink Princess 💗👸🏼,” Agruma gushed via Instagram comment.

“Thanks babe for giving me a push!” Wilson teased via Instagram alongside a video of herself on a golden swing. “IDK what we’re doing here…but I love every second of it! #R&R.” Agruma commented, “Never a dull moment with you.”

The How to Be Single star and Agruma shared a sweet kiss via Instagram Story on July 15.

“Summer vibes,” Agruma captioned a pair of Instagram snaps with her partner as they visited a beach in Malibu, California.

The lovebirds attended Serena Williams’ first-round U.S. Open match in New York City. 

“The @usopen is such a spectacular way to end the Summer,” Wilson wrote via Instagram alongside a carousel of snaps of herself and her partner at the big event. “Was so great to see Serena play tonight! What a legend! Looking forward to more quality matches and it was great to also celebrate @ustafoundation and the great charitable work that they do with under-resourced kids. #USOpen #BeOpen.”

The twosome dressed up as Barbie dolls for Halloween alongside a group of their friends.

Us confirmed the twosome’s engagement on November 4, with a source noting that Wilson and Agruma were “wildly happy” to take the next step in their relationship.

When Wilson announced via Instagram later that month that her daughter, Royce Lillian, was born with the help of a surrogate, Agruma dropped three pink heart emojis in the comments. 

Agruma got candid about the difficult parts of her romance with Wilson during an interview on The Morning Show. “It was shocking at the beginning and hard because I’m not used to so much attention,” she said, calling it “a little bit scary in the beginning, but we still try to keep our lives private.”

The designer revealed how enamored she is by little Royce during her November 2022 appearance on The Morning Show. “You start thinking about someone else, not just yourself. Before I was like, ‘I should go have a massage,’ but now I just want to spend time with her,” Agruma gushed. “You don’t know what it’s going to be like until you experience it. It’s been life-changing, in a good way.”
