Coping in the Crisis

Who would have thought that 2020 would bring a global pandemic that has brought the United Kingdom to a standstill whilst plunging the world into a recession. Corona virus started in Wuhan, China in 2019 and has come from animals.

Who would have thought that 2020 would bring a global pandemic that has brought the United Kingdom to a standstill whilst plunging the world into a recession. Corona virus started in Wuhan, China in 2019 and has come from animals. This novel virus affects lungs and airways and scientists are unsure of how it is spread due to it being a new virus. All of this uncertainty is heightened and exacerbated as there is no current treatment and it can take up to 18 months before one will be available.

In the midst of uncertainty it’s important to remember that the Prince of peace is in control and no weapon formed against the children of God will prosper and every tongue that rises against us will be condemned in judgement in Jesus name ( Isaiah 54 v 17).

2020 is the year of the year of the mouth and the Lord wants His people to declare peace in the storm. We must declare God’s word as life

and death is in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18 v21). Remember that God hasn’t given you a Spirit of fear but of Love, power and a sound mind..

Signs of Corona virus Anxiety

  • Excessive anxiety and worry ( apprehensive expectation) about corona virus and its impact upon yourself and your loved ones
  • Finding it difficult to control the worry about corona virus and being consumed by it as evidenced in continual research about it; seeking reassurance and struggling to switch off from this
  •  Restlessness or feeling on edge
  • Easily fatigued
  • Difficulty concentrating, racing thoughts and mental blanks
  • Irritability
  • Muscle Tension
  • Sleep disturbances
 
Coping with Coronavirus Anxiety
  1. Limiting the amount of time you spend consuming media as this will heighten your anxiety especially if you’re already susceptible to worrying. Why not reduce this to 30 minutes during the morning , afternoon and evening or slightly longer if you’re self isolating.
