The Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) Africa, through its humanitarian arm, Operation Blessing (OB), recently distributed relief materials to communities affected by flood in Koton Karfe, Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The materials were insecticide treated nets, drugs, disinfectants, bags of rice, beans, maize, and garri among others.
In addition, beverages, detergents, mattresses, blankets, cooking pots, mats, building materials such as bags of cement, roofing sheets, wood, and nails were given to thousands of people.
Explaining the reason for the intervention, The Regional Director, CBN Africa, Dr. Felix Oisamoje, represented by the Head, OB, Rev. John Kalma, said, “The large scale destruction of homes and livelihoods of several families and individuals within communities in Koton Karfe Local Government, which has a population of over 10,000 people, has had devastating effects on numerous families, whose houses have been completely submerged, resulting in over 200 households being displaced, and are currently in an IDP camp at Irenedo.”
The OB team headed by Rev. John Kalma, on arrival, led its medical experts and volunteers to provide free medical services to the affected people, treating diseases such as malaria, typhoid and others.
Responding, the Emir of Koton Karfe, Alhaji Abdul- Razaq Gambo Isakoto, expressed gratitude to the team for coming to their aid.
While expressing shock at the level of flood that ravaged communities, he prayed that God will continue to bless OB and CBN Africa.
