Jenna Ortega Pays Homage to Wednesday Addams In Macabre Versace

Jenna Ortega is fast becoming Gen Z’s scream queen. Starring in films such as X and Scream this year, the actor is proving to be one of the horror genre’s freshest new talents (and she literally has a killer scream, too). Her latest scary project is Netflix’s new series Wednesday, in which she stars as the iconic (and psychopathic) Wednesday Addams, premiering on November 23. For the show’s press tour this week, Ortega has begun making her rounds on the red carpets, channeling her character by wearing Wednesday’s signature all-black palette. It’s hard to make that fresh and interesting each time, but Ortega has been delivering.

At last night’s world premiere in Los Angeles, for instance, Ortega balanced spooky and chic when she slipped into a look from Versace’s spring 2023 runway show: The look included a black lace gown with a high slit, complete with matching blusher veil. It nodded to the creepy vibe of her new series, without feeling like a Halloween costume.

Earlier this week, Ortega sported other black ensembles that made a statement. (Perhaps she and fellow scream queen Mia Goth are sharing notes). For Ortega’s appearance on Jimmy Kimmel, she sported Dion Lee’s black bodycon dress with lace paneling; At the Critics Choice Association’s Celebration Of Latino Cinema & Television this week, she also chose a black, one-shouldered, semi-sheer Saint Laurent gown that subtly revealed the form underneath. While Ortega has yet to sport Wednesday’s signature braided pigtail and white-collared dress, she has managed to nod to her character in a more Hollywood-approved way.
